Within traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine are very effective for a wide range of conditons, including pain and injuries. In the West, acupuncture for pain relief and sporting injuries has become very well-known with an increasing number of clincal trials concluding on its effectiveness. Recognising this, some state hospitals in various countries implement the regular use of acupuncture in their Pain / Anaesthetics Departments. Christine Kim and her father, Sang-Dahl Kim hold positions in hospitals in the UK and Canada, respectively in addition to their private practices.
Christine Kim is Acupuncturist to the Pain Department at West Suffolk Hospital, NHSTrust (a Cambridge University teaching hospital), and practises privately in Cambridge and Suffolk
Her father, Sang-Dahl Kim was Acupuncturst to the Pain Research Team in the Department of Anaesthesia at McMaster Health Sciences in Hamiliton, Ontario before he became Acupuncturist to the Department of Anesthesia at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre (a University of Toronto teaching hospital) in Toronto, where he also has a private practice.
TCM may not only be effective for musculo-skeletal pain, but it may help with various other forms of pain. Below is not an exhaustive list, however it does cover the most common pain conditions and injuries that may be improved with acupuncture and other TCM therapies.
